Description The Department of Neuroscience is a basic science department that focuses on cutting-edge research in the areas of synapse development and function, sensory systems, and complex behavior, cognitive neuroscience and behavioral neurobiology. We are supported by funding from the federal government, private foundations, and industry. The faculty within the department are also extensively involved with the Sackler School of Biomedical Graduate Biomedical Science Program in Neuroscience as well as teaching within the medical school. Under close supervision of Principal Investigator, conducts a variety of routine experiments following established procedures and protocols, which may include performing assays, tissue culture, electrophoresis, and other laboratory techniques. May also record test results, analyze data using basic statistics, maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, and monitor animal colonies. There are five primary functions of this position: 1) Manage mouse colony; duties include mating, weaning, identifying transgenic markers from tissue samples by PCR, maintaining genotyping records 2) Learn and perform qRT-‐PCR and other common gene expression experiments; 3) Perform software-‐based quantitative image analysis 4) Support lab maintenance, including preparation of stock solutions and support of ordering Perfuse and prepare mouse brain tissue for immunohistochemistry, and Image mouse brain sections by confocal microscopy.

Qualifications Basic Requirements:
0-‐5 years with B.S./M.S./Ph.D.
B.S. required (biochemistry, cell biology, and neuroscience, etc.)
Good math calculations
Strong experience with cell culture or biochemistry
Experience with handling rodents, animal dissection
Standard software use: office, Photoshop, illustrator, etc. Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and procedures
1+ years laboratory experience with fluorescence microscopy and image analysis
1+ years laboratory experience with immunohistochemistry
