The Research Assistant I will be responsible for:
Western blot, protein electrophoresis and staining, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, DNA isolation, PCR and similar techniques.
Isolation and culture of endothelial cells, culture of neuronal cell types.
Minor surgical procedures, assessment of sensory hypersensitivity.
Tailing, breeding, and genotyping of knock-out mice.
Supply inventory and ordering, lab organization.
To qualify, you must have:
A BS or BA in chemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or a related discipline.
Laboratory experience in several of the above techniques. Experience outside of laboratory classwork (i.e. in a working laboratory) preferred.
Strong written and spoken English skills.
Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, communication and organizational skills.
Flexibility, motivation, and the ability to work independently.
The willingness and ability to take on multiple projects simultaneously.
A full-time research position is available in the Vascular Biology Program at Boston Children's Hospital. The candidate will be required to carry out independent bench research in close partnership with postdoctoral fellows and the PI. The candidate will be using a combination of traditional molecular-biology techniques to evaluate drug candidates in mouse models of endometriosis, evaluate causes of human endometriosis, and assess angiogenic response in mouse models.
