Research at GTP requires knowledge of multiple scientific disciplines including molecular and cell biology, protein biochemistry, virology, immunology, bioinformatics, and biotechnology. Our major goals are to increase scientific knowledge in gene therapy field through the use of experiments, and help develop new life-saving treatments. Research performed at GTP ranges from basic research to development of platform technologies to development of the vector manufacturing methods to conducting pre-clinical research. Our research is carried out using cell and animal models.
Research Specialist will be involved in planning, conducting and analyzing experiments aimed to evaluate the immune response to gene therapy vectors and transgene product. Research specialist will perform experiments related to the analyses of T and B cell immune responses in small and large animal models including human samples. These studies involve isolation of lymphocytes, immunological assays such as screening for neutralizing and binding antibodies to viral vectors, T cell assays such as lymphoproliferation, ICCS and ELISpot. Additional duties involve the development and validation of assays to detect antibodies to transgene product. Some of the assays will be operated under GLP grade. Research Specialist will provide technical support to enable our laboratory to function effectively and will adhere to standard procedures and guidelines. Research Specialist will interact with other GTP core facilities, receive and archive samples for Immunology Core testing and create data reports. Research Specialist will carry out experiments under the management of a supervising scientist to allow senior scientific personnel to concentrate on the more complex analytical processes in the laboratory.
The Research Specialist independently designs and performs assigned experiments, develop standard protocol. Processes and analyzes results. Keeps abreast of the work of other scientists within GTP and in the wider scientific community. Keeps up to date with external research carried out in their field of study.
