The University of California invites applications for a position in the Department of Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology under the direction of Professor Susan Strome. The candidate will participate in research on epigenetic inheritance via sperm in the nematode worm C. elegans. Duties will include C. elegans genetics, preparation of C. elegans sperm and sperm chromatin, chromatin immunoprecipitation, transcriptome profiling, and bioinformatic analysis. The position will require the candidate to employ excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as a willingness to work as an integral member of a research team. We have a preference for candidates with experience with C. elegans genetics, preparation of C. elegans sperm and sperm chromatin, chromatin immunoprecipitation, transcriptome profiling, and bioinformatic analysis.
SALARY: Minimum starting salary $57,900 (Assistant rank) and $67,800 (Associate rank), commensurate with qualifications and experience
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or other relevant field; and at least two years of postdoctoral laboratory experience with genetics and molecular biology techniques including chromatin immunoprecipitation and RNA-sequencing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: For the Associate Project Scientist rank, a demonstrated record of two or more peer-reviewed publications.

TERM OF APPOINTMENT: The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of reappointment. Should the hiring unit propose reappointment; a review to assess performance will be conducted. Reappointment is also contingent upon availability of funding.
