Under minimal supervision, the employee will be expected to use organizational skills and outstanding interpersonal communication skills to provide technical and administrative support for all projects in the laboratory. Candidate will also ensure that the laboratory is equipped with all necessary supplies to conduct experiments and will order supplies when needed.
The Research Assistant II will work in a team to plan and coordinate molecular biology and cell biology assays. They will be expected to plan, coordinate and plan animal procedures as well as collaborate with core facilities such as Flow Cytometry, Division of Animal care and the Translational Pathology Shared Resource.
Under direct supervision, this position will provide support for specified research projects. This position will also collect, interpret, assess, and communicate data/results. In addition, this position will assist in general laboratory operation and inventory.

Specific Examples: Provide technical support for research projects. This includes:
Perform animal husbandry (primary)
Plan and coordinate animal procedures
Perform mouse experiments using our approved Clostridium difficile animal model, including infection by oral gavage, daily wellness checks, harvesting of designated organs, downstream analysis, and interpretation of results.
Running experiments and assays under supervision and recording results.
Willingness to learn new laboratory techniques.
Perform a multitude of experiments and downstream analyses, including mammalian cell culture, ELISA, real-time PCR, flow cytometry, and immunohistochemistry.
Plan and coordinate molecular biology and cell biology assays
Working with standard laboratory bacterial strains
Troubleshooting laboratory experiments
Follow Medical Center safety protocols.
Record, interpret and communicate data and results
Presenting results and conclusions at laboratory meetings.
Compile and communicate results to P.I. and other team members as needed.
Collaborate with core facilities, such as Flow Cytometry Core, the Division of Animal Care and the Translational Pathology Shared Resource.
