One postdoctoral position is available immediately for highly motivated candidates with a strong background in myocardial ischemia injury to join the Translational Research Program at the Shock Trauma and Anesthesiology Research (STAR) Center at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, USA.
Our research focuses on mechanisms and modulation of myocardial apoptosis/necrosis, inflammation, cardiac dysfunction after ischemia-reperfusion, including immunology, cell biology, biochemistry, cardiac physiology, animal modeling, miRNA/anti-miRNA biology. For your convenience, here is the link:
The successful candidate will join an established cardiac research laboratory and use various KO mice, cell-based models, and anti-sense oligonucleotide approaches to examine the role of extracellular RNAs in myocardial inflammation and injury and to explore the efficacy of anti-miRNAs in attenuating myocardial injury.
A Ph.D. degree is required with training in physiology, immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology, and/or a related field. Experience with mouse models of cardiac ischemic injury required; Primary cell culture, biochemistry/molecular biology, immunology, and cardiac physiology are desirable.
The postdoctoral scholar will be mentored to facilitate their transition to an independent research career through the acquisition of writing and presentation skills and through the development of national and international collaborations. Interested individuals are encouraged to forward an electronic copy of your curriculum vitae and a brief cover letter that includes the name and contact information for three references to Dr. Wei Chao (email@example.com).
