The Wang Laboratory at the University of California, San Francisco is seeking a junior research specialist to participate in our ongoing angiogenesis research, which spans developmental biology, cancer, vascular biology, and stem cell biology.
Specifically, we are investigating the cell-signaling pathways, including those mediated by Notch and ephrin-B2, responsible for angiogenesis. The laboratory is well equipped to perform state-of-the-art research on angiogenesis at the molecular, cellular, and organismic levels using sophisticated mouse genetics, cutting-edge imaging, and cell/molecular biology. These advanced technologies are coupled with preclinical studies, offering a great opportunity for translational research.
The successful candidate will carry out scientific experiments necessary for this position, including mouse breeding, genotyping, micro-dissection, mouse surgery; tissue sectioning, immunostaining, and microscopy, including two photon imaging and 3D rendering, and image processing; and other techniques to support the research efforts of the lab.
The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining lab reagent, supplies, and solutions; ordering and record keeping; assisting in facility management, including maintaining and updating lab compliance with University protocols; equipment maintenance; financial reconciliation; and other duties as assigned.
The incumbent will also be responsible for coordinating lab events; assisting in grant applications; disseminating research and laboratory related communication, and website updating; proofreading documents; and recording meeting minutes.
Candidates must have a BA/BS in a related science field and knowledge of/experience with the duties, methods, or techniques required by the position. Candidates need to be highly responsible and motivated, with outstanding hands-on, organizational, communication, and computer skills. In addition to a background in the sciences, strong proofreading and editing skills, as well as computer proficiency (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word) are required.
