Developmental Biology encompasses the clinical specialties of pediatric dentistry and orthodontics, as well as scientists focused on basic research. Members of the department teach and mentor orthodontics fellows, pediatric dental residents, students enrolled in the DMD program, MD and PhD candidates at Harvard Medical School, and undergraduate students at Harvard University. Full-time clinical faculty practice dentistry in the Harvard Dental Center Faculty Group Practice, the Department of Dentistry at Children's Hospital Boston, and at Massachusetts General Hospital; part-time clinical faculty maintain private dental practices. Faculty members conduct research in early embryonic development; skeletal and vascular morphogenesis; biochemistry and molecular cell biology of skeletal and mineral homeostasis, regeneration, and repair; regulation of bio-mineralization; cellular immunology; perception of facial aesthetics; and clinical orthodontics and pediatric dentistry.
Position Overview: This position will provide front line administrative support to faculty and fellow staff members to ensure smooth daily operations in the Department of Developmental Biology. The individual will be responsible for maintaining schedules, arranging meetings and travel, purchasing, processing routine financial transactions, and managing correspondence and email communications. This person will assist with events planning, travel arrangements and reconciliations, reimbursements, and visitor arrangements. Position will require strong attention to detail, good record keeping skills, and ability to write well. Desired candidate will be responsible, positive, self-motivated and able to track multiple projects to completion on a daily basis. Diplomacy, discretion, and excellent verbal communication skills are needed.
Candidate will assist in support of Advanced Graduate Education programs in Orthodontics and Pediatrics, in faculty scheduling, course planning and continuing education activities. May be asked to perform literature searches, create data tables, compile test data or collate grading sheets or other curricular items. May assist on as-needed basis with activities related to admissions, graduation, and alumni affairs. Will be responsible for maintaining office supplies, distributing or dispatching faxes and departmental mail, and completing additional administrative tasks and responsibilities as needed.

May be tested on appropriate computer skills as required. Harvard experience appreciated but not required. Knowledge of Oracle financial software, Harvard Chart of Accounts, & basic accounting principles are a plus.
