RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Hynes Laboratory, to join a lab interested in understanding the mechanisms underlying metastasis, the spread of tumor cells throughout the body, and particularly the role of extracellular matrix proteins. Will conduct research under the supervision of postdoctoral researcher/PI in the field of breast cancer metastasis, with a focus on imaging and targeting breast cancer using animal models and molecular and cell biological techniques. Primary responsibilities include standard and advanced molecular biology methods; routine generation and panning of phage display libraries; protein expression and purification; maintaining mammalian cell cultures; executing protocols of nonroutine experiments; maintaining detailed records; maintaining/preparing laboratory stocks, supplies, and reagents; handling mice; and participating in laboratory meetings.
REQUIRED: experience with some of the following--mammalian cell culture and transfection, molecular biology (DNA and RNA purification, PCR, molecular cloning), biochemical techniques (Western blotting, protein expression and purification), and handling mice; excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills; detail orientation; computer literacy and experience analyzing DNA/RNA sequence data; willingness to work with animals; ability to maintain accurate records, recognize needs of laboratory group in addition to one's own responsibilities, and work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and diverse setting while successfully managing multiple experiments; self-motivation; awareness of the critical aspects of laboratory and chemical safety and ability to follow procedures and maintain a safe work environment; practiced documentation skills; comfort summarizing and reporting results to researchers; and a commitment to providing exceptional services and producing accurate and high-quality work.
