SENIOR RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE, Biology Department-Lamason Lab, to join and help establish a new assistant professor's lab. The Lamason Lab is looking for motivated individuals to assist in studies of how bacterial pathogens such as Rickettsia parkeri and Listeria monocytogenes move through host tissues using cell-to-cell spread. A variety of projects will examine the mechanistic details of cell-to-cell spread, utilizing approaches rooted in cell biology, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, and genetics. Will serve as a foundational member of the lab and balance rigorous hands-on scientific research with day-to-day operational tasks such as organizing reagent inventories, training new lab members, adhering to safety protocols, etc.
REQUIRED: exposure to a research lab environment, preferably with at least one year of bench experience (which may include undergraduate work); very strong organizational skills; excellent time management and verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated problem solving and strong critical thinking skills; attention to detail; self-direction/motivation; practiced documentation skills; awareness of and ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment; and the ability to respond to a rapidly evolving work environment involving concurrent projects and responsibilities.
