The College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University invites applications for a Post-doctoral research associate position within the Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS).
Dr. Kim's laboratory studies the roles of the early secretory pathway in human development. We have recently identified human diseases caused by mutations in SEC23A and SEC24D. We have also generated animal models for these human diseases. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who will pursue an independent research project in the field of intracellular protein trafficking using biochemical and cell biological approaches.
In this position the trainee will explore synthesis, degradation and secretion of collagen in cultured mammalian cells and animal models such as mice and zebrafish.
The successful candidate must have excellent organizational, communication and computer skills as well as the ability to work well with others in team settings.
Required Education and Experience:
Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology or other related fields.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Protein purification in various systems, immunohistochemistry of mouse or fish tissues, and advanced imaging techniques are strongly desired.
