The Rockefeller University seeks a Research Assistant to join Chromosome and Cell Biology. The Research Assistant will assist with research on mitosis and cancer biology. Responsibilities include conducting molecular biology, cell biology and/or biochemistry experiments which are related to the mechanisms that maintain genome integrity and chromosome architectures that respond to mitotic failures frequently observed in cancer. Approximately 30% of time will be spent ordering supplies and equipment, managing the lab budget, and communicating with vendors, university departmental administrators, and animal facility and laboratory safety personnel.
Bachelor's degree in biology required; educational emphasis in biology, biochemistry, genetics or cell biology preferred. Minimum of 1 year of research experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics or cell biology necessary. Working knowledge of sterile technique, chemical handling, and recombinant DNA techniques essential. Experience with protein analyses and tissue culture cells preferred.
